Praising God

Last night, my sister Angela, who was diagnosed with Leukemia in January, received her bone marrow transplant. She is doing great and sounds wonderful. I would like to thank each and every one of you who have prayed for her and her recovery. Your prayers mean so much to her, and our entire family. Thank you and please continue to pray for her complete recovery so she can get back home as soon as possible.
I would also like to ask you to pray for the brave, wonderful person who donated his or her bone marrow to Angela. They gave a life-saving gift and we will forever be grateful to him or her. Thank you.

One Proud Momma

Today, Lucas and I were playing with this silly animated duck my parents got him for Easter. Lucas LOVES this duck!! It sings this crazy song about finding candy and as the song goes on, the duck sings faster and faster as if eating all the sugary treats is making him hyper so he HAS to sing faster. The duck says that he 'can feel the sugar flowing from his head down to his toes'. Well, we've been making learning more fun and interesting since Lucas has much more fun things to do than sit and learn something - he is always on the go - so, with this silly song, we decided that when the duck says 'head' we would point to our heads and when he said 'toes' we would point to our toes.
Well, tonight I wanted to show Scott how Lucas pointed to his head when the duck said 'head'. Lucas had other plans - he wanted to dance to the music, not show Daddy what he learned. So, I figured I would ask Lucas where his head was. I wasn't expecting Lucas to even take time out of his dancing to answer me, but he did. The second I asked it, Lucas pointed to his head!! We are so proud of him!! We clapped, we hollered 'hooray' and 'yipee' and 'wooohooo', we, I mean, I even cried (no big surprise - I cry at everything)!! Lucas was beaming - he is proud of himself too! He clapped for himself!! Then I asked him where his toes were and he looked at me kind of puzzled so I showed him his toes again. Now he knows where his toes are too!!
Thanks for letting me share this great, awesome, memorable moment with you!! It's moments like these, and the look of pride on Lucas' face, that are just so wonderful that it is hard to explain the happiness in our hearts! We love our precious little boy so much and thank God each day that He blessed us with him.

One COOL Baby!

Hi! Back in April, Mommy and I went to NC to visit everyone and we all celebrated my 1st birthday. I got lots of cool presents but haven't been able to play with them since we couldn't fly with all the toys and clothes. So, Grandma sent me a package and I just got it today. You can see some of the toys on the floor in the pictures. I am having so much fun playing with all of them.
Grandma and Aunt Angela bought me these biker shades. Don't I look cool?
Mommy can't believe how good I am not taking the shades off. The truth is: I know I look cute, so why not wear them!!

My NEW Pool

Hi! Here I am in my new pool! Me, Mommy and Daddy went to the store today and picked this one out! There were blue, green and orange pools to pick from but since orange is a Harley Davidson color, Daddy liked this one best!! I didn't care since all I wanted was a pool so I could splash and play in it! I love my new pool!!

Fort Lucas

Here is my new swingset - we call it 'Fort Lucas'. Daddy built it for me. He is the greatest Daddy in the whole world - I love him soooo much!! The fort is almost done! We have to lower the swings a bit, add some flags to the top of the fort and put a sign up saying 'Fort Lucas' but it is basically complete! I love my new swingset!! I can't wait to have my friends come over and play on it with me!!

Swingset and Swimming

Daddy built 'Fort Lucas' for me so I decided to try out the slide! I love the slide - but I am not too fond of the swings - just don't like them! Maybe in a little while I will grow to like swinging but for now, I am a happy boy playing on 'Fort Lucas' and sliding! The dogs got into 'Fort Lucas' and couldn't get down! One of the dogs went down the slide to get down - it was too funny!
I also LOVE to play in my pool, well actually these pools aren't mine, they are my dog brothers and sisters' but Mommy cleaned them out and the dogs let me play in them. Mommy and Daddy are going to get me a pool that's all mine tomorrow and I can't wait!! Below are pictures of me splashing and then I decided splashing wasn't as much fun as sitting in the pool splashing so, I got in!

Precious, Simply Precious

There is no other word for these pictures except 'Precious'. I think they are just adorable! Lucas got to play with Derby the Horse and Toots the Dog (if you squeeze it's legs, they toot). He loves these two toys plus, to Lucas, he was just playing, not getting his picture taken.
I did want to add that all of these pictures were taken by C. at Portrait Innovations. She did an awesome job - thanks C.!!

Biker Baby

Here is our little biker! He loved getting his picture taken on the motorcycle. As the lady was wheeling the bike into the studio, Lucas saw it and decided he wanted to follow her to see where she was going! He was having so much fun!

A VERY Special Day

One year ago today, Scott and I were able to officially accept Lucas' referral. For months we had kept an eye on him on our agency's website - praying for the day we received our 171H. Well, the afternoon of May 18, 2006 came and I went to the mailbox and there it was!! Our 171H!!! I don't really remember a whole lot after that except I did do a little 'WoooHooo' dance in the middle of our road (and I am sure our neighbors had a good laugh but I don't care - I was soooo happy!). I remember calling our case manager and then our agency's director calling us. That night we got tons of pictures of Lucas and from that point on, we were his parents!!

It's hard to believe it's been one year already. We are so incredibly blessed to have our precious son in our lives - God is great! He knew that Lucas was meant to be our son. I would like to share a testament to God's work that He knows from the very beginning who we are and who our parents are:

Lucas was 2.5 months old when we were finally able to accept his referral because we were waiting for our 171H. Well, we had seen Lucas on our agency's website and saw his video and at that point, fell in love and knew he was our son. It was amazing! I just knew - but we still had a bit of a wait for our 171H. I prayed our document would hurry up so we could be his forever family. That day came and oh how glorious a day it was when we were told Lucas was still waiting for his family and that we were it!! A few months after we accepted Lucas' referral, I got an e-mail from a lady (I will call her M.). She said she had been praying Lucas would find his forever family soon. I thought that was very nice of her but wondered why she prayed for Lucas specifically. She soon e-mailed me again and told me this story (this gives me goosebumps each time I think of this because it truly illustrates how God was in control and knew where each of His children belonged):

M. and her husband were adopting 2 babies - one boy and one girl. M. chose the little girl but was also wanting Lucas to be their son but her husband felt another baby boy was meant to be their son. But that baby boy was being considered by another family. They prayed and prayed and soon they got a call saying the baby boy that was being considered by the other family was still available. So, they accepted his referral but Lucas always had a special place in M.'s heart so she prayed for him that he would soon find his family.

God knew exactly where each child's family was and placed that child with his/her Mommy and Daddy. I still can not believe how miraculous Lucas' adoption was. Lucas was meant to be our son from the very beginning and God knew that.

Thank you for letting me share this very special day with all of you! It was a long road to bring Lucas home but soooo worth the wait!! May those of you still waiting for your children to come home find peace knowing that God is in control and soon your precious blessing will be home.
