Boyd Orchards

On Saturday, we went to Boyd Orchards in Versailles. It was alot of fun! We met the F. family there and met a couple other families with GuateTots. They had alot to offer and we stayed for about 4 hours and if Lucas had his way, he would have stayed much longer!

Here is Lucas 'striking a pose' for Mom the photographer. He thinks if he humors me and lets me take his picture that I will leave him alone and let him play but oh, he has alot to learn! By allowing me to take his picture, he is just fueling the fire for me to take more pictures. I took over 150 that day alone! Yes, I need help but how can I resist taking pictures of him? Just look at that face!

Here he is... King of the World! He loved climbing this 'Hay Tower' with Dad. But had more fun sliding down the sides of the hay bales to get back on the ground.

This is Mr. Horse. He was very friendly and allowed Lucas to pet him. Boyd's had a 'petting' zoo of sorts. I don't know if you would like to pet two huge pigs, or chickens for that matter but we had fun petting the goats. We fed the goats too, which is one of Lucas and my favorite things to do! I guess I have just never grown up!

And now, onto Lucas' favorite activity that day! He couldn't get enough of sliding down the ramp on a potato sack. The first time he did it, he didn't want to let go of Scott but he did and the smile that followed was full of excitement. The minute he would get up, he would turn around and say 'more'. Of course, we let him go again. Why not!?! I just love the fact that he is getting more self-confident and is willing to try new things.

Happy Fall

Wow! I can't believe I haven't posted since October 1st! We are doing well - each of us getting over little colds - and bracing for chilly weather. Last week we went up to visit my Grandma in Western NY. She had not met Lucas, neither had my Aunt, cousins or their kids. We have alot of family that still hasn't met Lucas but in time, he'll meet them.

Lucas, as well as Scott and I, had a great time! We went to Pumpkinville, Sprague's Restaurant, and Cummins' Cider Mill. My Grandma has huge trees in her yard and one of the ones out front was dropping leaves left and right! They were all raked up into a pile and needless to say, Lucas couldn't help himself!! He was jumping in them, throwing them and just having fun with the leaves. He got to play with my cousins' children, and had a wonderful time! It was only 2 full days of visiting but we got as much in as we could. Here are some pictures from our time up there. Can you see that smile? He was definitely enjoying himself.

Bi-Water Farm Fall Festival

Happy Fall Everyone! On Friday, we went to BiWater Farm in Georgetown for their Fall Festival. It was very nice. There were lots of pumpkins, gourds, and tons of Halloween decor. Oh, not to mention mums and pansies! I could have spent hours there... oh wait, we did! There were lots of things to do. In fact, we didn't even get around to some of the activities but that's okay because we had a blast!

We first headed outside to walk around there 'shop'. You don't need an admission bracelet to browse the store and check out all of the fun stuff to buy but if you want to check out the 'farm', then there is a fee. So, we paid the fee and went in. Here is a step by step of our adventures...

1) We first went to visit all the 'farm babies'. There were chicks, bunnies, and ducklings. The back door of the shed-like enclosure was open so Scott thought we could go in. So, Scott and Lucas went inside and I stayed outside to get pictures of them from the window openings. Well, after a few minutes, this girl comes up and tells us that Scott and Lucas aren't supposed to be in there. Scott said that the door was open (and there wasn't a sign saying not to enter) so he thought it was okay. We apologized and went on our way.

2) Then we were off to my favorite activity, whether it be at a farm, zoo, etc. I LOVE the 'Petting Zoo' section!! And I think Lucas is just like me! He had a blast!! He fed goats, chickens, ducks, and llamas/alpacas and loved it! His favorite though was the Llamas (or maybe they were Alpacas) he fed. I guess since its lips are softer than the goats, it tickled his hand when they ate the food. He giggled non-stop while feeding them. It was so funny!

3) Then Scott and Lucas were off to the 'Haunted House'. It was for kids so there wasn't anything scary in it (but I still waited outside for them - I know, I am a wuss!). Lucas loved the 'Skeleton Band' but was unsure of the rest of the house since it was quite a bit darker. He never got scared but just wasn't thrilled.

4) After the 'Haunted House', we were off to the Hay Ride. We didn't know what to expect or where we were going but we hopped on and enjoyed the view and ride. The tractor took us up to the top of the hill where there were several pumpkin patches where you could pick your own pumpkin and also go through a Corn Maze. Lucas LOVED the maze, as well as all the pumpkins! We found 3 pumpkins that we bought... one is HUGE, the 2nd is weird and the 3rd is quite normal.

There were lots of other things to do at the farm but by that point we had been there about 3 hours and Lucas was looking tired and I was getting blisters from my new sneakers. So, we decided to call it a day.

We decided to take the 'back way' home meaning taking the back country roads from Scott County to our house. There would be less traffic and since the trees are turning colors, it would be quite pretty to take in what Mother Nature has to offer. Since we were heading into Woodford County, we decided to stop by our old neighborhood. We stopped by and visited Bill and Kathleen and Les and Laura. It was great seeing them again and we are so happy they were home so we could visit.

Since I LOVE to talk (as most of you know), we stayed longer than planned visiting but that is okay because it had been quite a while since we had seen them and we have really missed them. Our old house is looking great. The current owners have really taken great care of the house, which we are happy to see.

So, we left to go home and didn't get to the house until about 9:30pm. We ate some dinner and went to bed. To say the least, we all slept well that night!
