Big Day x 2

January 20th is a big day for two reasons.

The first is forever in my heart.

The second is forever in history.

On Saturday, 01/20/07, we met Lucas for the first time. It was a dream come true. He was finally in our arms. His adoption began on Valentine's Day 2006 when we announced we were going to adopt. The paperchase took place and on May 18, 2006 we received our 171H and officially accepted Lucas' referral, though in our hearts we knew he was ours from the minute we saw him. Lucas was meant to be our son from the very beginning and I would have moved Heaven and Earth to bring him home to us. From the time we entered Family Court to the day we received PGN approval was approximately 6 months but then we had to wait for our Embassy appointment, which wasn't until a month and a half later. That wait seemed harder than waiting for our case to be approved. But on that Saturday, all the waiting, tears, worry, etc. vanished the minute our beautiful son was placed in my arms.

Knowing he was finally with us and coming home was worth the wait.

I still can't believe it's been 2 years already! Time has just flown by! We thank God every day for allowing us to be the parents of Lucas. We are blessed.

Hello sweet boy!


Today, 01/20/09, Barack Obama was sworn in as our 44th President of the United States. Though I did not vote for him, I look forward to seeing where he takes us and the changes that will come from his presidency. His inauguration was not only historic but also brought a sense of hope and promise for our nation.

God bless President Obama & the Obama family!
